Big project: Bullet train to run first from Ahmedabad to Vapi, target to run to Mumbai by 2023

100% land acquisition for bullet train project completed in Gujarat, only 35% work completed in Maharashtra
The bullet train will pass through 197 villages in 8 districts of Gujarat, reaching Mumbai from Ahmedabad in just two hours

With India's first bullet train in full swing, the train will be up and running by 2023. Then the distance from Ahmedabad to Vapi will be reduced to only one and a half hours. Apart from this, the first train from Ahmedabad to Vapi will be started after the completion of the work. Since then, work is underway to start work in the Maharashtra area.

When the railway track from Ahmedabad to Mumbai is ready, this bullet train will reach Mumbai in just two hours. The distance of this train is 508 kilometers. Most of the cost of this project is borne by the Government of Japan. In Gujarat, 100 per cent land has been acquired for the bullet train project costing Rs 1.08 lakh crore and the work has been handed over to the L&T company, so speeding up the work will enable passengers to travel in the bullet train by 2023. Although the land acquisition process is still going on in Maharashtra, the Railway Board has acquired 35 per cent of the land, a railway official said.

The Japanese government has provided a loan of Rs 79,000 crore at an interest rate of 0.1 per cent for India's first bullet train project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. The full term of the loan is 50 years and the moratorium period will be 15 years. The land acquisition process in this project is being done by the National High Speed Rail Corporation. In Gujarat, 1434 hectares of land in 298 villages had to be acquired for the bullet train track, which is almost complete. About 350 hectares of land has to be acquired from 104 villages in Maharashtra.

The bullet train is to pass through 197 villages in eight districts of Gujarat. Advanced stations will be built at eight locations. Out of the total 508.17 km corridor of bullet train, 155.76 km long corridor passes through Maharashtra, while Gujarat has 248.04 km and Dadra and Nagar Haveli has 4.3 km corridor.
